Avoid what? Butt-berry. What is that you ask? Oh, you know what it is…
It’s that berry-sized raw patch of skin that is near the top of your butt. It’s happening during your sit-up workout. The combination of sweat and material rubbing in the same spot causes the area to become really raw.
After some research we have figured out the two main reasons butt-berry occurs and they happen together. Reason number one - you are not keeping your abs contracted as you lay back down to the floor which in turn causes reason number two – your hips and butt end up leaving the ground which cause the rubbing.
So how do we avoid it?
Technique, technique, technique.
You need to shorten the amount of sliding you’re doing between the ab mat and the floor. You can go fast, just don’t let your form go and move all over the floor. Be sure to wedge the ab mat securely between you and the floor with the larger side towards your butt. And always avoid lifting your hips at the bottom when you are throwing your hands back for momentum.
