Show up for yourself"
“Show up for yourself”
I moved to Truro at the end of 2015. I was uncomfortable with my body and just split my favorite jeans, I’d had enough. I was looking for change when I stumbled across Myya and Heart Core, and it’s changed my life. I participated in a 30 day challenge, that was the catalyst.
I started showing up once a week, and then progressively more. The group I was working out with helped keep me accountable and pushed me to be better. Before I was ready to show up for myself, I showed up for them. They’ve made me laugh, they’ve cheered me on, and they’ve heard me cry.
I’m 36, down over 50 pounds, sober, and in the best shape of my life. Thank you Universe for barbells, Heart Core, and paleo guidelines. I spend my mornings working out and coaching, often while watching the sun come up.
My focus is on form, function, and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT); as a friend says, “burning butter!” I work with athletes to set goals. We meet them and then we beat them.
If you want to change, you need to jump out of your comfort zone every single day. Sometimes my comfort zone is my bed in the she shed. I need to jump up out of there every morning if I want to see changes. I’m surely a work in progress, we all are. I stay active. I workout at Heart Core, it’s where my heart is, I do Muay Thai, I play with CrossFit, I hit up hot yoga and I’m back riding horses after 20 years. I practice keeping up with my food prep and making good food choices daily. This doesn’t mean I don’t ever eat junk, I just don’t make it a habit. The number one thing is, I show up and after a workout, I thank myself and my workout buddies for showing up, that’s what we do!
